Much like the unique experiences that make us individuals,United Strangers is a journey and a story.
It all began in beautiful New Zealand with the First Strangers ——Logan Komorowski.
At the age of 16 he gathered scrap wood from construction/demolition sites and began making furniture. This developed into a calling as he began professionally designing for architects and designers both in Los Angeles and London, winning him a Red Dot Design Award along the way.
He took a break from his work and came to China ,volunteering to teach English to orphaned children in Guiyang.Whilst designing for various bands in China he realised there was a gap in the design work he was doing at the time.He wanted to be more innovative,he wanted to share the beautiful details that can only be created by hand and he knew that all that could be done while still being ethical in the materials he used.
In 2009 United Strangers began as a design company and in 2013 the independent brand was launched.Since then our philosophies materials and gather inspiration ,have been United in creating high quality furniture with cheeky details that only hand finishing can produce and we have swapped stories and shared a laugh with Strangers we met on our journey because that’s the New Zealand way.
So far we have worked hard to ensure we adhere to strict international safety and quality standards while using unique materials such as recycled Army Canvas, repurposed Aluminium and reclaimed wood. Our pieces have been noticed by and are featured in the spaces of Adidas,WeWork,W Hotel,Journal Standard Japan,Adobe and Taikoo Hui China,to name a few with our products being featured in their spaces around the world and can be pound in New Zealand,Australia ,Japan,Korea,China,Singapore,U.S.A,Canada,England and more.
As we move forward,we want to be even more United with our own community ,a group of design savvy Strangers who appreciate hand-crafted details and understand the importance of sustainable material.
